Cloud technology bottom line

By Daniel Benitez

As prospective cloud technology users, the main questions we all have are;

What is it? & How much is it going to cost me?

It’s understandable to be concerned or uncertain about new things. New technology occasionally receives a negative reputation because of its current capacity, and its future ability is being a bit unknown. Those of us that are in the tech space should help educate and make others more comfortable with these changes. Change is hard. For everyone.

What’s the best way to help people understand cloud technology, a complex concept? The answer is simple, we must explain to prospective users, “What is it? How much is this going to cost me?”

The easiest way to put it, it really just depends on what you want to do with cloud technology.

Let me explain!

Number 1: Exposure

Technology is truly remarkable. Through the adoption of new and more efficient technology; processes and tedious tasks can be a thing of the past with computer automation. The luxury of these systems, such as cloud computing is it can all be as simple or as complex as you wish to make it. For example, by using AWS machine learning services such as AWS Rekognition, developers can use machine learning features without knowing the complexities of machine learning algorithms. To truly have a real understanding of how to adopt these new services, you must first decode the reasons you’re ready to make the changes or migrations.

Number 2: Space

When your purpose has been defined, you can begin to determine how much space you will require to accommodate your needs. Most cloud service providers offer their space based on gigabytes, megabytes, and terabyte capacities.

Number 3: Difficulty

Let’s refer back to the first point, the level of difficulty truly depends on the level of exposure and desired uses. For simple uses, any individual can adopt the cloud for their daily use, a great example of this is our daily use of the iCloud on our cell phones or personal computers. As your needs become more complex and the need for more advanced uses arise, a technology partner is always recommended. In order to save time, money, and a lot of effort, organizations like DataNext Solutions have the experience and infrastructure to support more advanced and rigorous technology demands.

Number 4: Price

When you have selected your purpose and the required amount of space, it comes time to talk numbers. Individuals and organizations usually pay a set price, usually a couple of cents, per hour, week, month, or year. Many of the cloud providers offer the options to pay as you use, pay weekly, monthly, or even offer long-term contracts with discount incentives.

We can all be hesitant to implement new methods because they can be a bit frightening and real pain. Unfortunately, with the unknown comes uncertainty, but luckily there are tools and partners that specialize in providing services that help you and your organization adopt these new technologies to help optimize and achieve your goals in a much more effective way.
