Ever wonder what if you accidentally terminate your critical EC2 instances running in AWS environment? if you have not configured autoscaling feature this could result in a bad user experience which means possible revenue loss. Worry not, AWS provides a valuable feature of “Instance Termination Protection”. By default, this feature is turned off which means whenever you choose to Terminate EC2 instance AWS will permit that action.

To enable this feature simply select your Instance then choose from Instance Settings > Change Termination Protection from Actions menu  as shown in the following slide

 

Click Enable button to activate termination protection.

 

 

Later when you try to Terminate the instance AWS will show the following message and Disable the Terminate button
